What was the highlight of Reef Resort Villas Port Douglas
Affordable accommodation for a family stay
Location is good. Rooms were very comfortable. Swimming pool was great for kids.
Didn't seem to ever be a lot of staff on duty, for that reason mainly we never tried the resort restaurant . It also seemed to be closed at odd times? Perhaps a staffing issue?

the fact that it was an issue getting 'early check in' as we had a wedding to attend at 3pm. 99% Of other hotels check in is 2pm. this hotel was 3pm check in. . this was extremely stressful and inconvenient for us. rushing to check in and rushing to not miss the wedding.

Nice but could be so much better!
We loved pool number 1 it was huge! It was a lovely temp and the pool lounges were very comfy. The kids loved the spa cave. Having self contained apartments was good with 2 bathrooms, washer dryer and kitchen it was great to be able to cook at home if we wanted. Apartments were spacious.
We were disappointed our kitchen didn't have an oven, we had a couple of meals in our room to save on costs, and lucky for us we were with friends who room did have one. The 2nd pool and bbq are was also a downer for us. We were looking forward to a BBQ and drinks by the pool but only 1 bbq worked and when sharing with so many other people it was very frustrating. The area also closes at 8pm. Apparently most of the apartments are residential and they complain of noise. My husband and his friend where finishing off beers and packing up the bbq stuff when the lights all suddenly turned off. They were then approached by 3 of the residents to vacate the area right on 8pm. The main pool is open till 9pm, but you can't get any food from the restaurant after about 4pm. Would have been nice not to have to go into town all the time for meals out. Some ideas, Maybe the bbq areas should be moved to the main pool to get better use and avoid conflict with the residents. Also having dinner options at the resort would be great too.
